A latest world record was set last Thursday, during the celebration of the 38th UAE National Day. The flag was unveil at Qanat Al Qasba in Sharjah and had been officially entered in the Guinness Book of World Records. The flag was done by Sedar Group of companies, which employed 448 men to complete the task.
It is 500 metres long and 20 metres wide which the largest flag ever made. It covers an area of 22,813 square metres — 208m-long and 109.7m-wide — and weighs 4,254kg. It was unveil in five minutes and 20 seconds by 448 men who have undergone training for the special drill for the purpose for several months.
According to officials, Andrea Banfi of the Guinness World Records, London, UK declared this flag as the largest flag in the world measuring 245,559 square feet (22,813 square metres), which is also equivalent to the area of four soccer fields. This was recorded in Pages 8 and 286 in the Arabic version of the Guinness Book edition of 2009 and in Page 286 in English version.
