IRANIAN SOUK - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
For those who love traditional and handmade items such as colorful carpets, bedspreads,pottery,oriental spices, vibrantly colored fabrics, prized Persian rugs, traditional designs in jewellery, and many more items coming from Iran, Iranian Souk in Abu dhabi is a place that you really must go. Iranian souk is located 0.1 kilometre away from Port Road; 0.5 kilometre away from Al-meena Street; and it is also known as Meena Souk or Afghan Souk.
This Iranian market is a genuine if not very charming look into the conventional way of doing business here. Note that taking pictures is not allowed anywhere inside the port area.
WOMEN'S HANDICRAFT CENTER - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Women's Handicraft Centre is located at Karama St, Al Mushrif Abu dhabi city. It is a government run handicraft center. Centre is a rounded building with several huts where local women artist perform silver thread work, weaving, demonstrate essential arabic oils, incense, local dresses and handmade crafts. The products are sold for a reasonable price and with high quality. Items included for sale are shawls, woven bags, rugs, cushion covers, coffee pots, trays and baskets. Government provides employment for women and promotes traditional handicraft of the emirates. So, tourist always visits this place for shopping original handicrafts items.
Just take note that taking pictures are allowed for handicraft items but not for the artist or women that works on this handicrafts. Also, visitors are advised to remove their shoes before entering each hut.
AL AIN ZOO AND AQUARIUM - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
One of the best places in Abu Dhabi that attracts family is the Al Ain Zoo and Aquarium. It is the largest zoo in the entire Gulf region. It was opened in 1969. It is a home for several unique collection of animals like Arabian Antelope, deer, African antelope such as oryx, eland, gazelle and lechwe and etc. Most of the visitor loves the cathouse, opened on January 1985 with different feline species such as black and spotted jaguars, leopards, lions, tigers to pumas.
There is also a reptile house, an aviary and a compound of Gorilla and monkey. You will be amaze by the aquarium with hundred of marine species from around the world aside from being the only aquarium placed in a desert.
ABU DHABI ICE RINK - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
It's unbelievable but true, right in the middle of the desert there an ice rink. Abu Dhabi ice rink provides fun on both local residents and tourist especially during sweatering heat of the summer here in UAE. Ice skating lesson is available for the beginners and a separate day for ladies. It features a very new setup to National Hockey league standards and state of the art freezing system to make sure that the ice cooled consistently and smoothly to experience superior skating. But, make sure to check for the availability since this place is always full so as to avoid disappointment. You may also find membership for three months, six months and 1 year.
After skating, you can also have some snacks from their nice food stands and cafe.
KIDS PARK - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
One of the unique parks in Abu Dhabi, Kids Park allows its visitors to socialize the various species of farm and wild animals. It gives you a memorable experience by touching and feeding the animals. You can find a variety of animals here such as Raccoon, Meerkat, Ferret, Bush Bay, Hamsters,Squirrels, Camels, Donkeys, Ibex, Oryx, Deer, Peacock, Kangaroo, fresh water fishes and an array of exotic birds. The park features a large playground for children and they are also hosting birthday parties for kids.
AL AIN FAYDAH RESORT - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
At the foot of Jebel Hafeet, there is one relaxing place called Al Fayda resort. It is located towards the southern part of the Abu Dhabi. You can have variety activities such as family and friends picnics, boating, swimming, 10-pin bowling, and amazing foods on their restaurants. You will also be thrilled by jagged cliffs that surround the area. If you want to spend overnight on the place there are guest houses and chalet style accommodation.
