SHIMAL - Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates
One of the famous sightseeing in Ras al khaimah is Shimal which is located north of the Ras al khaimah near Hajar Mountain. This place has the several hundred pre-islamic tombs and a settlement dating from 2000-1300 BC. Here they discovered pottery, soft stone vessels, bronze or copper weapons and beads.
Shimal's tombs that are made of stones are visible from the visitors because it protrudes above the surface.A large circular tomb from the Umm al-Nar period was excavated at the archeological site of Shimal and that makes one of the most important archeological sites in the United Arab Emirates.
A fort at the top of the hill called Husn al-Shimal, from the Islamic era is hanging on a rock outcropping and offers a good view of the entire area.
DHAYAH FORT - Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates
One of the most crowded tourist destination in Ras Al Khaimah is the Dhayah Fort. It is made up of mud-brick in the 16th century and located in Dhajah area,after Rams area, before Sha'am area, approx. 15km outside of RAK town. The place has an exciting view either palm garden, coast or the striking mountain.
In History, this place played a great role as an strategic military castle during the last battle between the local people and British troupes in 1819 and cause the destruction of the historic tower. This was restores on 2001 and now features two towers that overlook the Arabian Gulf.

JAZIRAT AL HAMRA - Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates
Along the Gulf coast on the road to Sharjah lies the ghost town of Jazirat al-Hamra, an abandoned town with coral block houses, built in the traditional style with narrow alleyways and a pristine beach. Jazirat al-Hamra (Red Island) is the last unique and traditional town still standing in the UAE. Once a small island, its population subsisted on maritime and pearling trading before they abandoned their houses in the middle of the 20th Century, when the rush to modernize started. An undisturbed picture of life before the discovery of oil is left behind and preserved until today.
This whole area is unique for Ras Al Khaimah and for UAE, its shows all the elements of a traditional town, including fortress for the defense purposes, several mosques and a variety of house types. It is one of the best places to study traditional coral stone architecture used along the coast of the Arabian Gulf.
